Q. Why is Yarra Ranges Council using an online forum?
Council acknowledges that many residents, communities and visitors lead busy lives and that online forums allows them to participate on issues that interest them or suggest new or innovative ideas and all at a time that suits them.
Q. How can I join the online forum?
Simply click on the SIGN UP tab at the top right hand of the page, when prompted provide a name (it can be your first name), a USERNAME and PASSWORD of your choice, a valid email address, your age, gender and the location in which you live.
Q. What are the advantages in using the online forum?
- It is quick and convenient way to have your say on a range of issues and topics.
- It is a great way to keep up to date on issues affecting your community.
- You can see what other community members think about an issue or topic, and then respond with your own views.
- You don't have to attend community meetings at a set place and time.
- It allows for a range of different people, with different views to discuss matters that impact on their community.
Q. How does the Yarra Ranges Views online forum work?
Anyone can browse the website and read the comments made by individuals. If you then want to leave a comment you need to register using an email address. This information is held by Bang the Table and Council does not have access to this information and can only view your logon name e.g. Tim1, which is the same as any other user. Council officers can contribute to the site to respond to your queries or to clarify information from time to time.
Q. How is the site moderated?
All moderation is carried out by Bang the Table and is independant to Yarra Ranges Council. The administrators do not edit/alter any comments, unless they are offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed form the site immediately. Refer to the guidelines at the 'Moderation' tab in the menu bar at the top of the page.
Q. How will my input be used?
The views and information you provide will be used to inform Council on the topic being discussed. A summary of the feedback from each online forum will be posted on this site and on Council's website.
It is important to remember that comments made on this site are not official submissions to Council. If you want to comment on a particular issue, such as planning or a local laws matter, you will need to write a formal submission to Council on that matter.
